60 Years of Leadership and Communication

Every great company begins with a powerful "why" — and for Holistic Performance Group (HPG), that "why" was born from a long-standing friendship and a shared passion for helping people thrive. Dr. Ryan Cate Gibson and Thea Harvey-Barratt met in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in the early 1990s, forming a bond rooted in deep curiosity, empathy, and a love of learning. Over decades, as their careers evolved and their life experiences deepened, one truth kept surfacing: when people are supported in developing their own personal resilience, entire organizations become stronger, more adaptive, and more successful.​

 

That realization sparked the founding of HPG — a company dedicated to helping individuals grow from the inside out. With backgrounds in neuroscience, leadership, and human development, Ryan Cate and Thea built a company focused on emotional intelligence, communication, and strategic thinking — the very qualities that make both people and companies resilient in the face of change.

Today, Holistic Performance Group is more than a training company. It's the result of a lifelong partnership driven by purpose: helping people discover their potential, strengthen their connections, and bring lasting resilience to every level of the workplace. What started as a friendship has become a force for transformation — one leader, one team, one organization at a time.
